A wine accompaniment – cheese, the perfect complement to wonderful wines
Cheese can complement the character of a wine, or provide an interesting contrast! Cheese sommelier Josef Juritz serves a plate of various hard and semi-soft cheeses during his weekly wine tasting events and recommends one or another combination. Of course, whatever it is that tastes good to you is what matters most. All the wines to be sampled are listed on the wine list. During a wine sampling session you are sure to find the perfect wine for your next evening meal in the Hotel Almrausch. As well as a selection of bottled wines there are also recommendations for many fine wines which are sold by the glass.
Away from the weekly set wine tasting times you can also arrange other days to sample wines. When there are ten participants or more you can even enjoy your very own private cellar experience – ideal for a pleasure-filled evening with friends, a company outing or an anniversary surprise! The price – as for the Tuesday wine sampling session – is 20 Euros per person.
Keen wine drinkers don’t have to ponder for long – his favourite is the Sauvignon Blanc. A fruity white wine, one of the finest grape varieties in the world, which delights the nose and your palate in equal measure. Lush fruit, blackcurrant leaves and elderberry characterise its incomparable flower and harmonises its aroma with numerous meals taken from cuisine from all over the world. Maybe that is the reason that the original home for the Sauvignon Blanc is not just France, but that it is grown in several continents. In 1992 Josef Juritz took his sommelier exams, a year later he became a cheese sommelier. And in 1994 he added the title of master service provider.
The best wine is no good when it is not stored properly, served too cold or too hot; Josef Juritz is sure of that. So all of his favourites are poured into your glass at the right temperature, they are brought to the right temperature in the wine fridge in the restaurant.
